In October 1996, McNair was convicted on 17 counts of animal cruelty and failure to license dogs and ordered to pay nearly $25,000 in fines and perform eight hours of community service.Case investigators alleged that McNair was involved in dog fighting with pit bulls, but the court ruled that there was insufficient evidence for a conviction on those charges.

Famous quotes containing the words animal, cruelty and/or charges:

Your cravings as a human animal do not become a prayer just because it is God whom you ask to attend to them.
    Dag Hammarskjöld (1905–1961)

Of all the animals with which this globe is peopled, there is none towards whom nature seems, at first sight, to have exercised more cruelty than towards man, in the numberless wants and necessities with which she has loaded him, and in the slender means which she affords to the relieving these necessities.
    David Hume (1711–1776)

I have never injured anybody with a mordant poem; my
verse contains charges against nobody. Ingenuous, I have
shunned wit steeped in venom—not a letter of mine is dipped
    in poisonous jest.
    Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso)
