Tin House publishes both fiction and poetry, and it also publishes interviews with important literary figures, a "Lost and Found" section dedicated to exceptional public domain and generally overlooked material, and drink recipes. It is also distinguished from many other notable literary magazines by actively seeking work from previously unpublished writers for its "New Voices" section.
A story from the Summer 2003 issue, "Breasts" by Stuart Dybek, was featured in The Best American Short Stories for 2004, and in 2006, "Window" by Deborah Eisenberg was a "juror favorite" in The O. Henry Prize Stories.
