Time in Indonesia - Historical Usage

Historical Usage

Earlier usages of zone names have been due to wartime issues, and earlier colonial measures. Singapore's historical time zone issues also show some aspects of the Indonesian context.

  • Western Indonesian Time (WIT) was known as Jakarta Standard Time.
    • UTC+07:00 1 January 1400
  • Central Indonesian Time (CIT) was known as Bali Standard Time (BST).
    • UTC+08:00 1 January 1400
  • Eastern Indonesian Time (EIT) was known as Jayapura Time.
    • UTC+09:00 1 January 1400

Famous quotes containing the words historical and/or usage:

In public buildings set aside for the care and maintenance of the goods of the middle ages, a staff of civil service art attendants praise all the dead, irrelevant scribblings and scrawlings that, at best, have only historical interest for idiots and layabouts.
    George Grosz (1893–1959)

Girls who put out are tramps. Girls who don’t are ladies. This is, however, a rather archaic usage of the word. Should one of you boys happen upon a girl who doesn’t put out, do not jump to the conclusion that you have found a lady. What you have probably found is a lesbian.
    Fran Lebowitz (b. 1951)
