King of The Road
In 2003, Thrasher Magazine started a new type of skateboard competition called King of the Road. The KOTR contest takes 4 teams of pro skaters, gives them a book of challenges, and gives them 2 weeks to travel across the country and complete as many goals as they can. The King of the Road competition has been held in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007. King of the Road was not held in 2008 or 2009, but returned for 2010. In 2011 Thrasher and converse brought KOTR to China with the four biggest Chinese board companies.

Famous quotes containing the words king of the, king of, king and/or road:
“I, who am king of the matter I treat, and who owe an accounting for it to no one, do not for all that believe myself in all I write. I often hazard sallies of my mind which I mistrust.”
—Michel de Montaigne (15331592)
“Cities are ... distinguished by the catastrophic forms they presuppose and which are a vital part of their essential charm. New York is King Kong, or the blackout, or vertical bombardment: Towering Inferno. Los Angeles is the horizontal fault, California breaking off and sliding into the Pacific: Earthquake.”
—Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
“The firelight of a long, blind, dreaming story
Lingers upon your lips; and I have seen
Firm, fixed forever in your closing eyes,
The Corn King beckoning to his Spring Queen.”
—Randall Jarrell (19141965)
“Does the road wind uphill all the way?
Yes, to the very end.
Will the days journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.
But is there for the night a resting-place?
A roof for when the slow, dark hours begin,”
—Christina Georgina Rossetti (18301894)
