The Unmentionables - Censorship

Censorship

  • On the syndicated "Merrie Melodies" show, the two times Rocky gets shot (one where Bugs uses his carrot as a gun and the other time when Rocky, Bugs, and Mugsy are in the food processing plant) were cut.
  • The WB version of this cartoon shortened the scene in the beginning where a man runs into a telephone booth to report a crime to the operator and is told to wait. Immediately after, the man and the phone booth are shot in half by offscreen gunfire and the operator says, "I'm sorry, you've been disconnected.". The only part of this scene that was shown on The WB! was the man going inside the phone booth and telling the operator to be directed to the number of the police station.

Famous quotes containing the word censorship:

... censorship often boils down to some male judges getting to read a lot of dirty books—with one hand.
    Robin Morgan (b. 1941)

Right now I think censorship is necessary; the things they’re doing and saying in films right now just shouldn’t be allowed. There’s no dignity anymore and I think that’s very important.
    Mae West (1892–1980)

The censorship method ... is that of handing the job over to some frail and erring mortal man, and making him omnipotent on the assumption that his official status will make him infallible and omniscient.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
