The Teeth of The Tiger - Critical Reception

Critical Reception

Like Red Rabbit, Clancy's The Teeth of the Tiger was poorly received by critics. Reviews for The Teeth of the Tiger have been "tepid at best." The Washington Post described it as a "bloated, boring, silly novel" with "inane dialogue, gossamer characterizations, endless repetition and bumper-sticker politics." The San Antonio Express-News described the novel as "an acceptable thriller" that is "an obvious attempt to reinvent the franchise has created." In contrast, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch praised The Teeth of the Tiger for being "mercifully briefer than its chronological predecessor in the Jack Ryan series."

Famous quotes containing the words critical and/or reception:

Post-modernism has cut off the present from all futures. The daily media add to this by cutting off the past. Which means that critical opinion is often orphaned in the present.
    John Berger (b. 1926)

To the United States the Third World often takes the form of a black woman who has been made pregnant in a moment of passion and who shows up one day in the reception room on the forty-ninth floor threatening to make a scene. The lawyers pay the woman off; sometimes uniformed guards accompany her to the elevators.
    Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)
