National Scientific Committees
The assignment of the National Committees is the promotion and coordination for Belgium of the studies of different scientific disciplines that are within their compentences mainly from an international point of view. Each National Committee focuses on a specific scientific study. There are 24 committees. Members of these committees are doctors, professors and people working within a specific scientific field.
The conditions for the foundation of a National Committee is the existence of an international scientific union which is a member of ICSU or a member of a scientific institution of ICSU (scientific committees, special committees,...) in the same scientific discipline.
RASAB is responsible for the financial and logistic support of the National Committees, as well for its daily activities, as for the organisation of scientific events by the National Committees in the Palace of Academies.

Famous quotes containing the words national, scientific and/or committees:
“Public speaking is done in the public tongue, the national or tribal language; and the language of our tribe is the mens language. Of course women learn it. Were not dumb. If you can tell Margaret Thatcher from Ronald Reagan, or Indira Gandhi from General Somoza, by anything they say, tell me how. This is a mans world, so it talks a mans language.”
—Ursula K. Le Guin (b. 1929)
“A democracy which makes or even effectively prepares for modern, scientific war must necessarily cease to be democratic. No country can be really well prepared for modern war unless it is governed by a tyrant, at the head of a highly trained and perfectly obedient bureaucracy.”
—Aldous Huxley (18941963)
“... in the minds of search committees there is the lingering question: Can she manage the football coach?”
—Donna E. Shalala (b. 1941)
