The Lost World of Mr Hardy

The Lost World of Mr. Hardy is a feature length documentary film about a much loved family fishing tackle business. It was directed by Andy Heathcote and Heike Bachelier. The film tells the story of the disappearing art of the craftsman through the history of the Hardy Brothers, the Rolls Royce of fishing tackle makers. The film includes rediscovered archive movie footage of salmon fishing, filmed by L.R. Hardy and his chauffeur 'Appleby' in the 1920s.

The film was produced by Trufflepig Films who successfully self distributed the project giving the film a UK cinema release in 2009/10. The film played well in rural cinemas across England.

Famous quotes containing the words lost, world and/or hardy:

    How coyote got his
    ratty old fur coat
    bits of old fur
    the sparrows stuck on him
    with dabs of pitch.
That was after he lost his proud original one in a poker game.
    Leslie Marmon Silko (b. 1948)

Oh, men are jailers all; jailers of themselves; and in Opinion’s world ignorantly hold their noblest part a captive to their vilest.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

A whole village-full of sensuous emotion, scattered abroad all the year long, surged here in a focus for an hour. The forty hearts of those waving couples were beating as they had not done since, twelve months before, they had come together in similar jollity. For the time Paganism was revived in their hearts, the pride of life was all in all, and they adored none other than themselves.
    —Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)
