Reception
The film was expected to be a big hit, especially with the Generation X MTV crowd, as evidenced by the immediate heavy rotation of its theme song. However, its reviews were poor and it only grossed approximately US $3.1 million, making it a box office failure although it has gained something of a cult following as time went on.
