Sequel
There was a 1984 TV movie sequel The Jerk, Too, starring Mark Blankfield as Navin (the Steve Martin role in the original). It was co-written by Steve Martin, and possibly intended as a pilot for a TV series. Mr Satanism, author of The 100 Best Movies Ever Made...Mostly Suck, called it "like stepping in dog shit".
