Whitney goes to New York and her love life heats up when she meets model Alex. Lauren realizes there's no spark in her relationship with Doug and breaks up with him. Spencer and Heidi continue to argue and Stephanie tries to make peace with her brother.

The tension between Lauren and Audrina comes to a head during a trip to Las Vegas for Frankie's birthday. Things take a turn for the worse when Brody attacks Stephanie on her past causing her to end up in tears and he and Doug land in jail. Heidi announces that Holly is moving in, much to the dismay of Spencer.

After returning from their trip to Vegas, Lauren and Audrina have one last heartfelt conversation which results in them trying harder on their friendship.

Justin bails on Audrina once again and she was getting fed up with it. Holly meets up with Lauren causing both Lauren and Heidi to look back on their friendship.

Lauren goes on a family vacation and all hell breaks loose. Stephanie avoids advice from Audrina and ends up going on a date with Doug, but get caught by Brody's mother. Audrina and Justin meet up with Heidi and Spencer.

Lauren confronts Doug at his get-together and questions Stephanie's credibility. Heidi's mother comes to visit and after an uncomfortable lunch with Spencer, thinks Heidi is giving up too much for her relationship.

Heidi writes Lauren a letter, wanting to make peace. Lauren affirms that as long as Heidi is still with Spencer, they will never be friends as he is the problem. Audrina goes on a date with another guy, hoping to make Justin jealous.

Spencer is sick of Holly lounging around at the apartment and tells Heidi he will move out if Holly doesn't. Audrina is torn between Justin and Corey, a former love interest.

The gang celebrate Brody's birthday in Cabo where the situation between Justin and Audrina gets worse. Spencer tries to break up Stephanie's new relationship with Cameron.

Cameron makes a promise to Stephanie that he will defend her in front of Brody but fails to act on it. Audrina chooses Justin after he finally bares his soul.

Audrina moves out of the house, getting a place of her own. Heidi gets drunk on the job at a Bolthouse event, which results in her getting fired.

Lauren and Whitney are sent to New York where Whitney juggles two boys- model Alex with whom she went on a date with before and singer Jay. Brent Bolthouse calls out Spencer's behaviour to Heidi.

Holly crashes at Lauren's place for a while which angers Spencer causing him to lash out at Heidi's family which in turn forces Heidi to defend them. Heidi tries to save her job. Audrina and Justin reach new levels in their relationship.

When a rumor gets out that Lauren and Justin hooked up, Audrina believes it and damages her relationships with them. Spencer tries his best to keep Holly from appearing in Heidi's life.

Stephanie decides to bond with her Nana after Spencer guilts her to a visit. Audrina tries to save her friendship with Lauren after their big fight over the rumor.

Whitney gets a job interview at Diane Von Furstenburg in New York, courtesy of Kelly. Whitney also meets up with Jay in the process. Lauren and Lo return to Laguna to pack up Lauren's belongings and reminisce. Stephanie makes a choice about where her relationship with Cameron is headed.
69 19 "Mr and Mrs. Pratt" December 15, 2008 (2008-12-15)

Heidi and Spencer go on a getaway to Mexico and decide to elope. Whitney gets the new job in New York which means saying a sad goodbye to LA and Lauren.

70 20 "I Heidi Take Thee Spencer..." December 22, 2008 (2008-12-22)

Heidi and Spencer return to LA to deal with the aftermath of their 'wedding' and are paid a visit by Heidi's mom. Spencer decides to back out of legalizing the wedding to give Heidi the big wedding of her dreams. Justin promises Audrina he's not going anywhere while on a romantic trip to Palm Springs. Lauren and Heidi begin to make peace when they see each other at an event and are finally friends again.
