Famous quotes containing the word music:

“But the dark changed to red, and torches shone,
And deafening music shook the leaves; a troop
Shouldered a litter with a wounded man,
Or smote upon the string and to the sound
Sang of the beast that gave the fatal wound.”
    —William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

“Thy remembrance, and repentance, and deep musings are not free
From the music of two voices and the light of one sweet smile.”
    —Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)

“Who that has heard a strain of music feared then lest he should speak extravagantly any more forever?”
    —Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
