Based on the original 1977 weekday morning series The Fun World of Hanna-Barbera, comes a weekly programming block combining older Hanna-Barbera shows and new originals, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera was aired on Sundays in most markets, although some stations showed the block on Saturdays as well on Weekdays. The live action/animation cartoon block premiered on Sunday September 15 Of 1985.

It was hosted by Hanna-Barbera's legendary star and Program Director/VJ of the show, Yogi Bear and his Funtastic Treasure Hunt crew members, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw and Snagglepuss, all voiced by Daws Butler, the live action/animation weekend/weekday morning series ran throughout the 1985-1994 television season, originally The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera ran for three and a half hours in 1985, And then later in 1986 the series becoming a four and a half hour block after it proved to be successful, In 1987 the series went to a three hour block and then in 1991 the series went to two hours and in 1993 the show goes to one hour.

They were often glued together with filler segments like HBTV which short for Hanna-Barbera Television, which featured music videos that were composed of classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon clips (similar to Disney's D-TV) And Nickelodeon's sister network MTV. Such radio hits included songs such as Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising" and Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me". The main theme to the first 3 seasons for The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera is "It's Fun! Fun! Fun! Funtastic!" which was also used as the theme for Yogi's new series, Yogi's Treasure Hunt.

In 1988, Yogi and his gang passed their hosting duties to The Down And Dirty Dinosaurs which ran only for the 4th season, And in 1990 the show was hosted by Kenny Ford and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Both hosted the series while their regular series Kids Incorporated was off the air for 1990, and later returned to Disney once Kids resumed production.
