The Burke Special
The Burke Specials were a TV series broadcast on BBC1 from 1972 to 1976.
They starred James Burke and were broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC1. The shows had a "circus" format, with Burke on a radio microphone walking around interacting with a studio audience that surrounded him on three sides. Recordings were discontinuous, final assembly being done by timecode-controlled video editing.

Famous quotes containing the words burke and/or special:
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
—Edmund Burke (17291797)
“In this century the writer has carried on a conversation with madness. We might almost say of the twentieth-century writer that he aspires to madness. Some have made it, of course, and they hold special places in our regard. To a writer, madness is a final distillation of self, a final editing down. Its the drowning out of false voices.”
—Don Delillo (b. 1926)
