The Amazing Race 5 is the fifth installment of the American reality television show The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 5 featured 11 teams of two, with a pre-existing relationship, in a race around the world.
This season premiered on July 6, 2004, with weekly showings at 8:00 pm EDT, followed by Big Brother 5. The 2-hour season finale aired on September 21, 2004.
Married parents Chip and Kim McAllister were the winners of the race, and were the first African American contestants to win the competition.
At 46 and 44 respectively, Chip & Kim are the oldest winning male and female (she is tied with Season 7's Joyce); together they form the oldest winning team.
A DVD for this season was released on April 24, 2012, via Amazon.com's CreateSpace program.
