Texas Commission On Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education - Structure

Structure

The TCLEOSE Board of Commissioners formulates agency policies and makes recommendations to the Governor of Texas and the Legislature regarding related matters. Its nine members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Texas Senate, to serve without pay for staggered, six-year terms. Three members must be sheriffs, constables, or chiefs of police. Three other members must be TCLEOSE licensees for at least five years (two of which must hold non-supervisory, peace officer positions). The last three members are chosen from the general population. The Board employs an Executive Director to lead the day to day operations of the agency.

TCLEOSE is divided into the following divisions:

  • Field and Special Services Division
  • Credentialing and Education Division
  • Enforcement and Legal Division
  • Fiscal and Staff Services Division

Famous quotes containing the word structure:

What is the structure of government that will best guard against the precipitate counsels and factious combinations for unjust purposes, without a sacrifice of the fundamental principle of republicanism?
    James Madison (1751–1836)

Agnosticism is a perfectly respectable and tenable philosophical position; it is not dogmatic and makes no pronouncements about the ultimate truths of the universe. It remains open to evidence and persuasion; lacking faith, it nevertheless does not deride faith. Atheism, on the other hand, is as unyielding and dogmatic about religious belief as true believers are about heathens. It tries to use reason to demolish a structure that is not built upon reason.
    Sydney J. Harris (1917–1986)

The syntactic component of a grammar must specify, for each sentence, a deep structure that determines its semantic interpretation and a surface structure that determines its phonetic interpretation.
    Noam Chomsky (b. 1928)
