The term was used in the 1979 film Apocalypse Now, in which Captain Willard is ordered by Jerry, a man in civilian attire (presumably CIA), to "terminate the command" of the allegedly insane Colonel Kurtz with "extreme prejudice." The full exchange runs (emphasis added):,

Colonel Lucas: Your mission is to proceed up the Nung River in a Navy patrol boat. Pick up Colonel Kurtz's path at Nu Mung Bha, follow it, learn what you can along the way. When you find the Colonel, infiltrate his team by whatever means available and terminate the Colonel's command.
Willard: Terminate... the Colonel?
General Corman: He's out there operating without any decent restraint, totally beyond the pale of any acceptable human conduct. And he is still in the field commanding troops.
Jerry: Terminate with extreme prejudice.
Colonel Lucas: You understand, Captain, that this mission does not exist, nor will it ever exist.

In the episode "Extreme Prejudice" on the crime drama NCIS, a bombing strikes the NCIS building. The Secretary of the Navy gets instructions from President Barack Obama to "proceed with extreme prejudice" against the bomber.

In the mission "Just Like Old Times" of the first-person shooter video game "Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", General Shepherd gives to order to "terminate with extreme prejudice" Captains Price and Soap.

Famous quotes containing the word popular:

The man of large and conspicuous public service in civil life must be content without the Presidency. Still more, the availability of a popular man in a doubtful State will secure him the prize in a close contest against the first statesman of the country whose State is safe.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
