Tennessee State Route 2

Tennessee State Route 2

State Route 2 is a west to east highway in the U.S. state of Tennessee, that is 197 miles (317.0 km) long. It begins in Rutherford County and ends in Loudon County.

It runs southeast from Rutherford County toward Chattanooga and then northeast from there to Loudon County. As nearly the entire route is overlain by U.S. Highways, the designation "Tennessee Route 2" is very seldom used by the general public; the only exception would be where a small portion of it parallel to Interstate 24 near Kimball, Tennessee has been removed from the U.S. Highway system and is no longer part of U.S. Route 41; but the highway still exists and is in use.

Famous quotes containing the words state and/or route:

To the rulers of the state then, if to any, it belongs of right to use falsehood, to deceive either enemies or their own citizens, for the good of the state: and no one else may meddle with this privilege.
    Plato (c. 427–347 B.C.)

By a route obscure and lonely,
    Haunted by ill angels only,
    Where an eidolon, named Night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
    From an ultimate dim Thule—
From a wild weird clime that lieth, sublime,
    Out of space—out of time.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)
