Israel
In Israel, since April 2003, the broadcast channels (Channel 2 and Channel 10) are showing the suggested age for all programmes. Later the rating was available at all of the channels, such as cable channels and more. Originally the limit tags came in three colors—Yellow, Orange and Red—but in cable or satellite it is designed differently.
The system used before 2010 was as follows:
- 8 (Yellow): The program is suitable for all ages. Usually used for children's programming and the rest of the programs that do not have inappropriate content (as listed below).
- 14 (Orange): Suitable for children over 14. Programmes with this rating may contain strong language, violence, smoking and sometimes nudity and sexual content.
- 18 (Red): Unsuitable for children contains sexual nudity or strong violence and usually strong language. So far, only HOT produced these type of programs or was ever forced to do so (for example, "Asfor" for drug use). The rating was also used for documentaries that included inappropriate content. 18 rated programmes are banned from Israeli television channels until 10:00PM. If the channel is broadcast 24 hours, it was broadcast only until 6.00 am.
- G (Blue): Not an official rating, only used on Yes channels for programming that does not match 8, 14 or 18 descriptions. Only displayed on advertisements and the EPG.
- E (no rating) is given for sports and news
In 2010, the system was revised. The current ratings are as follows:
- G: General Audiences. Anyone, regardless of age, can watch the program. Usually News and Young Children's Shows.
- 12+: Suitable for teens 12 and over only. No child under 12 may view the programme.
- 15+: Suitable for teens 15 and over only. No child under 15 may view the programme.
- 18+: Suitable for adults 18 and over only. No children, of any age, may view the programme.
- E: Exempt from classification. This rating is usually applied to live broadcasts.
