Personal Life
Teesta was born in 1962 into a Gujarati Hindu family. She is the daughter of Atul Setalvad, a Mumbai based lawyer and his wife Sita Setalvad. Her father is the son of M. C. Setalvad, India's first Attorney General. Teesta is married to Javed Anand, a Muslim who, like her, is a journalist and civil rights activist. She and Javed have two children, daughter Tamara and son Jibran.
