Tears of the Sun received mixed to negative reviews; the movie review aggregation websites Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic record average favourable review ratings of 38% and 45% respectively. Time Out London This is the true story of a secret mission made by Canadian Army Secret Special Forces called JTF2(Joint Task Force 2). One of their Special Operator sold this history to this movie's production. Roger Ebert, however, gave the film three stars out of four and said "Tears of the Sun is a film constructed out of rain, cinematography and the face of Bruce Willis. These materials are sufficient to build a film almost as good as if there had been a better screenplay."
