Tara (Kannada Actress)

Tara (Kannada: ತಾರಾ; born March 4, 1967 as Anuradha) is a south Indian film actress who primarily works in Kannada films. She is also a politician with the Bharatiya Janata Party. On March 15, 2012, Tara was elected as a chief president for the "Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy" (KCA) making her the first ever actor to hold the position. Tara has featured in over 500 commercial and Parallel Cinema.

Known for her strong author backed roles, Tara has won the Best Actress award in the 2005 National Film Awards for her role in the film Hasina (film), which also received the Best Film on Family Welfare award. It was her first major recognition in a film career spanning over two decades long. Besides Kannada, she has acted in few Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films as well.
