Private Life

Tania Peitzker has been married once, to the established Chinese-Australian artist, Jun Chen. Before they met in Melbourne in 1991, Chen had been a Fine Arts academic at Guangzhou University, in Southern China. They divorced in 1995, with Chen later becoming a serial finalist in the prestigious annual portrait competition, the Archibald Prize and being selected for the stable of a leading Sydney gallery focussing on Chinese contemporary art.

Due to her personal relationships, she has studied elementary Mandarin/Chinese, (high) Arabic, Polish and French. As a teenager, she won a university scholarship from the Italian Government after passing language exams held by the Italian Embassy in Canberra. However instead of going to Italy, she completed part of a LLB degree (Bachelor of Laws) at the University of Queensland. Peitzker is also fluent in high German and understands a number of Swiss German dialects after having lived in Bern and Lucerne for two years in the early 2000s. Australian/British English is her native language.

In June 2012, she commissioned the well-known Australian photographer John Webber to do an outdoor photo shoot near her then home on Sydney Harbour's Elizabeth Bay, New South Wales. Webber photographed Madonna (entertainer) in New York in the 1980s for COUNTDOWN Magazine, as well as many other celebrity singers and actors over the decades.

Tania Peitzker is a keen amateur yachtswoman, having competed in regular races off the coast of Melbourne, on Sydney Harbour and Wannsee, the lake near Berlin and Potsdam. When in Europe, she lives on her English partner's farm which is located 40 minutes outside of London in rural Kent.
