Tall Zira'a - Conclusions

Conclusions

The excavations on the Tall Zira'a have shed new light on the settlement and the economic history from the Early Bronze Age to the Islamic period. The prominent tall is a unique example of such an extensive range of stratigraphy in northern Jordan. The exceptional importance of the Wadi el-'Arab results from its location between two culturally defined regions – Palestine and southern Syria. The excavations are part of the “Gadara Region Project” – an interdisciplinary study of the regional history of the Decapolis city of Gadara. The long-term archaeological project (2001–2015) is currently being carried out by the Biblical Archaeological Institute in Wuppertal and the German Protestant Institute of Archaeology Amman and Jerusalem (Research Unit of the German Archaeological Institute).

Famous quotes containing the word conclusions:

It is the true office of history to represent the events themselves, together with the counsels, and to leave the observations and conclusions thereupon to the liberty and faculty of every man’s judgement.
    Francis Bacon (1561–1626)

What is the good of drawing conclusions from experience? I don’t deny we sometimes draw the right conclusions, but don’t we just as often draw the wrong ones?
    —G.C. (Georg Christoph)

I have always been, am, and propose to remain a mere scholar. All that I have ever proposed to myself is to say, this and this I have learned; thus and thus have I learned it; go thou and learn better; but do not thrust on my shoulders the responsibility for your own laziness if you elect to take, on my authority, conclusions the value of which you ought to have tested for yourself.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
