Syed Modi - Murder Case

Murder Case

The scandal surrounding Modi's murder attracted worldwide attention. Seven were named in a chargesheet following a CBI probe, including Modi's wife Amita and her future husband, Indian politician Sanjay Singh, but the case against Amita Modi and Sanjay Sing - for conspiracy - was dropped, and Akhilesh Singh and Jitendra Singh were separately exonerated. Two of the other accused - Amar Bahadur Sing and Balai Singh - died before their involvement could be judged. Bhagwati Singh was found guilty of murder and possessing illegal arms, fined and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Famous quotes containing the words murder and/or case:

Give me your blessing; truth will come to light; murder cannot be hid long; a man’s son may, but in the end truth will out.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

If someone does something we disapprove of, we regard him as bad if we believe we can deter him from persisting in his conduct, but we regard him as mad if we believe we cannot. In either case, the crucial issue is our control of the other: the more we lose control over him, and the more he assumes control over himself, the more, in case of conflict, we are likely to consider him mad rather than just bad.
    Thomas Szasz (b. 1920)
