Sydney Explorer

The Sydney Explorer was an Australian tourist sightseeing service operated within the Sydney CBD by the Urban Transport Authority from 1980. The service operated seven days a week and ran constantly throughout the day. In November 2010 it was purchased by City Sightseeing Pty Ltd who continued to operate the service using open top, double deck buses.

Originally it was operated by Mercedes-Benz O305 and O405 buses that apart from being painted in Sydney Explorer were identical to those used in normal service. In 1990 a fleet of six (later increased to eight) Pressed Metal Corporation bodied Mercedes-Benz O405 coaches were introduced.

Famous quotes containing the words sydney and/or explorer:

What is more hopelessly uninteresting than accomplished liberty? Great swarming, teeming Sydney flowing out into these myriads of bungalows, like shallow waters spreading, undyked. And what then? Nothing. No inner life, no high command, no interest in anything finally.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

In my writing I am acting as a map maker, an explorer of psychic areas ... a cosmonaut of inner space, and I see no point in exploring areas that have already been thoroughly surveyed.
    William Burroughs (b. 1914)
