Ski Jumping
Simon Ammann, a double gold medalist in Salt Lake, could not recapture that form in Turin, where his best finish was 15th in the large hill event. Andreas Küttel was pre-qualified in both events, but poor second jumps in both left him outside the medals.

Famous quotes containing the words ski and/or jumping:
“The goal for all blind skiers is more freedom. You dont have to see where youre going, as long as you go. In skiing, you ski with your legs and not with your eyes. In life, you experience things with your mind and your body. And if youre lacking one of the five senses, you adapt.”
—Lorita Bertraun, Blind American skier. As quoted in WomenSports magazine, p. 29 (January 1976)
“Everything seems beautiful because you dont understand. Those flying fish, theyre not leaping for joy, theyre jumping in terror. Bigger fish want to eat them. That luminous water, it takes its gleam from millions of tiny dead bodies, the glitter of putrescence. Theres no beauty here, only death and decay.”
—Curtis Siodmak (19021988)
