Swift Vets and POWs For Truth

Swift Vets and POWs for Truth, formerly known as the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SBVT), was a political group (527 group) of United States Swift boat veterans and former prisoners of war of the Vietnam War, formed during the 2004 presidential election campaign for the purpose of opposing John Kerry's candidacy for the presidency. The campaign inspired the widely-used political pejorative "swiftboating." The group disbanded and ceased operations on May 31, 2008.

Famous quotes containing the words swift and/or truth:

We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another.
    —Jonathan Swift (1667–1745)

Today’s comedian has a cross to bear that he built himself. A comedian of the older generation did an “act” and he told the audience, “This is my act.” Today’s comic is not doing an act. The audience assumes he’s telling the truth. What is truth today may be a damn lie next week.
    Lenny Bruce (1925–1966)
