Susquehanna State Park (Maryland)

Susquehanna State Park is a state park on the lower Susquehanna River north of Havre de Grace, Maryland. The main park area is on the west bank of the river, but it also manages land on the river islands and east bank.

The park offers fishing, camping, a picnic area, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, and boating. The park includes the Rock Run Historical area, which consists of the Rock Run Grist Mill, Jersey Toll House (for the historic Port Deposit Bridge), remnants of the Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal and the mill owner, John Archer's 1804 Rock Run Mansion.

The park also hosts the privately run Steppingstone Museum, "which preserves and demonstrates the rural arts and crafts of the 1880-1920 period."

Famous quotes containing the words state and/or park:

Most of the folktales dealing with the Indians are lurid and romantic. The story of the Indian lovers who were refused permission to wed and committed suicide is common to many places. Local residents point out cliffs where Indian maidens leaped to their death until it would seem that the first duty of all Indian girls was to jump off cliffs.
—For the State of Iowa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

The label of liberalism is hardly a sentence to public igominy: otherwise Bruce Springsteen would still be rehabilitating used Cadillacs in Asbury Park and Jane Fonda, for all we know, would be just another overweight housewife.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
