Aircrew Survival Egress Knife

The serrations seen on Aircrew Survival Egress Knife (ASEK) are intended to allow air crewmen to cut their way free through the relatively thin metal skin of a crashed helicopter or airplane. Famous quotes containing the words survival and/or knife:

...I have a duty to speak the truth as I see it and to share not just my triumphs, not just the things that felt good, but the pain, the intense, often unmitigating pain. It is important to share how I know survival is survival and not just a walk through the rain.
    Audre Lorde (1934–1992)

They warsled up, they warsled down,
Till Sir John fell to the ground,
And there was a knife in Sir Willie’s pouch,
    Gied him a deadlie wound.
Unknown. The Twa Brothers (l. 5–8)
