Aliasing
In the most common geometrical SR algorithms, the added information is embedded in the low resolution image in the form of aliasing. But this has as the prerequisite that aliasing had actually occurred by virtue of a mismatch of the grain of the capturing sensors in the system with respect to the image content of the system were it diffraction-limited.
