The Case is the amateur zombie film that is being shot by the characters throughout the movie. Brief excerpts are seen in the main film, along with episodes in which scenes are being shot. It is said to be written by Charles to be entered in a film contest. It was in fact written by Basso with assistance by his co-stars and Abrams. The complete short film is shown through the end credits of Super 8.
