Suo Chao - Death

Death

Suo Chao becomes one of the Eight Tiger Cub Vanguard Generals of the Liangshan cavalry after the Grand Assembly. He follows the Liangshan heroes on their campaigns against the Liao invaders and rebel forces after they have been granted amnesty by Emperor Huizong. During the Fang La campaign, Suo Chao is assigned to lead the attack on the northern gate of Hangzhou. He engages the enemy general Shi Bao in a fierce battle. Shi Bao feigns defeat and pretends to retreat to lure Suo Chao to follow him. Just then, Shi Bao turns around and catches Suo Chao off guard. Shi Bao strikes Suo Chao with his club and kills him. Suo Chao is posthumously granted the honorific title of "Martial Gentleman of Loyalty" (忠武郎) by the emperor in recognition of his contributions to the nation during the campaigns.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

    It was not death he feared—it was the disgrace of death, and the misery of the ignominious preparations. He knew in his heart that heaven could not call it murder that he had done; but he felt equally sure that man would do so.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

    It is certainly safe, in view of the movement to the right of intellectuals and political thinkers, to pronounce the brain death of socialism.
    Norman Tebbit (b. 1931)

    For in the word death
    There is nothing to grasp; nothing to catch or claim;
    Nothing to adapt the skill of the heart to, skill
    In surviving, for death it cannot survive,
    Only resign the irrecoverable keys.
    The wave falters and drowns. The coulter of joy
    Breaks. The harrow of death
    Depends. And there are thrown up waves.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
