Sunset Records was a record label started in 1966 as the budget album subsidiary of Liberty Records to reissue the Liberty, Imperial, and Minit material.
The label stopped operating around 1974.
At the time Rod McKuen's LP "In The Beginning" (SUS-5273) was produced, Sunset Records was located at 6920 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles. Calif. 90028. Based on logo information on the back of this LP cover, Sunset Records was associated with Transamerica, "Sunset Records - Entertainment from Transamerica Corporation." This meant that when Sunset was under Transamerica ownership, it was a subsidiary label of United Artists Records, the label owned by the United Artists film studio, which was part of Transamerica at that time.

Famous quotes containing the words sunset and/or records:
“When the
Marne flowed by the plants nodded
And above the glistering Gila
A sunset as beautiful as the Athabasca
Stammered. The Zambezi chimed. The Oxus
Flowed somewhere.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“Philosophy, astronomy, and politics were marked at zero, I remember. Botany variable, geology profound as regards the mud stains from any region within fifty miles of town, chemistry eccentric, anatomy unsystematic, sensational literature and crime records unique, violin player, boxer, swordsman, lawyer, and self-poisoner by cocaine and tobacco.”
—Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (18591930)
