The video game Sleeping Dogs by Square Enix and United Front Games, set in Hong Kong, focuses on the Chinese Triads from the perspective of an undercover agent, Wei Shen. The gangs Sun On Yee and 18K are based on the real life gangs Sun Yee On and 14K. In the game, as in reality, the two gangs are portrayed as harsh rivals, with each committing violent acts on one another, particularly 18K on Sun On Yee, as the 18K are the main gang antagonists.

Famous quotes containing the words pop culture, pop and/or culture:
“There is no comparing the brutality and cynicism of todays pop culture with that of forty years ago: from High Noon to Robocop is a long descent.”
—Charles Krauthammer (b. 1950)
“Compare the history of the novel to that of rock n roll. Both started out a minority taste, became a mass taste, and then splintered into several subgenres. Both have been the typical cultural expressions of classes and epochs. Both started out aggressively fighting for their share of attention, novels attacking the drama, the tract, and the poem, rock attacking jazz and pop and rolling over classical music.”
—W. T. Lhamon, U.S. educator, critic. Material Differences, Deliberate Speed: The Origins of a Cultural Style in the American 1950s, Smithsonian (1990)
“The white dominant culture seemed to think that once the Indians were off the reservations, theyd eventually become like everybody else. But they arent like everybody else. When the Indianness is drummed out of them, they are turned into hopeless drunks on skid row.”
—Elizabeth Morris (b. c. 1933)
