Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, and rivers. It is threatened by habitat loss.
Sumatran Torrent Frog has recessed tympanal membrane, which suggest that it is able to hear high-frequency sounds.
Famous quotes containing the words torrent and/or frog:
“The flies swarmed on the putrid vulva, then
A black tumbling rout would seethe
Of maggots, thick like a torrent in a glen....”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
“What a wonderful bird the frog are
When he stand he sit almost;
When he hop, he fly almost.
He aint got no sense hardly;
He aint got no tail hardly either.
When he sit, he sit on what he aint got almost.”
—Unknown. The Frog (l. 16)
