Biography
Sheikh Sultan is the 2nd son of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of UAE and the first President, also the emir of Abu Dhabi emirate prior the formation of the Federation. In 1990, he was appointed as Deputy Prime Ministers, while the Prime Ministers traditionally is the emir (ruler) of Dubai. His eldest half-brother. Sheikh Khalifa, is the current emir and the president, while his younger half-brother Sheikh Mohammed is the current crown prince of Abu Dhabi.
Since 1997, he was serving with another younger half-brother Sheikh Hamdan as Deputy Prime Minister, until 2009 given the post to their young brother and half-brother Sheikh Saif and Sheikh Mansour.
Apart with Deputy Prime Minister, he is The President's Representative, Chairman of the Media and Cultural Centre, Chairman of the Emirates Heritage Club and chairman of Zayed Center for Coordination and Follow-Up.; Member of Supreme Petroleum Council.; Member of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
