Stroudsburg Area School District is a large, suburban public school district located in the Poconos of northeast Pennsylvania. The headquarters are located on West Main Street in the Borough of Stroudsburg. Stroudsburg Area School District encompasses approximately 73 square miles (190 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 138,678. In 2009, the district residents’ per capita income was $22,137, while the median family income was $56,546. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501 and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010. Per District officials, in school year 2007-08 the Stroudsburg Area School District provided basic educational services to 5,906 pupils through the employment of 488 teachers, 364 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 24 administrators. Stroudsburg Area School District received more than $18.9 million in state funding in school year 2007-08. The Superintendent of Schools is Dr. John A. Toleno.
