Famous quotes containing the words internal, combustion and/or engine:

When a person doesn’t understand something, he feels internal discord: however he doesn’t search for that discord in himself, as he should, but searches outside of himself. Thence a war develops with that which he doesn’t understand.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)

    Him the Almighty Power
Hurld headlong flaming from th’ Ethereal Skie
With hideous ruine and combustion down
To bottomless perdition, there to dwell
In Adamantine Chains and penal Fire,
Who durst defie th’ Omnipotent to Arms.
Nine times the Space that measures Day and Night
To mortal men, he with his horrid crew
Lay vanquisht, rowling in the fiery Gulfe
    John Milton (1608–1674)

There is a small steam engine in his brain which not only sets the cerebral mass in motion, but keeps the owner in hot water.
