Strathclyde Business School - Academic Departments

Academic Departments

There are seven academic departments within SBS:

  • Accounting and Finance
  • Economics
  • Human Resource Management
  • Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship
  • Management
  • Management Science
  • Marketing

Each department offers a range of programmes: postgraduate, undergraduate and research. The business school also offers a number of faculty-wide programmes, both research and taught – the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Executive Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership, the Strathclyde SKIL Masters in Management (MiM), the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), and Research Methodology in Business & Management.

The business school also has several research units:

  • Strathclyde Institute for Operations Management (a joint venture between staff from SBS and the Faculty of Engineering);
  • Fraser of Allander Institute (located in the Department of Economics but operating in a cross-disciplinary manner);
  • Strathclyde International Business Unit (located in the Department of Management but also working cross-functionally);
  • Scottish Employment Research Centre (located in the Department of Human Resource Management)

Famous quotes containing the words academic and/or departments:

    The academic expectations for a child just beginning school are minimal. You want your child to come to preschool feeling happy, reasonably secure, and eager to explore and learn.
    Bettye M. Caldwell (20th century)

    A man sees only what concerns him.... How much more, then, it requires different intentions of the eye and of the mind to attend to different departments of knowledge! How differently the poet and the naturalist look at objects!
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
