The Recreation Path Today

The Stowe Recreation Path draws many tourist, both from in-state and out-of-state. The residents of Stowe and surrounding areas cooperated to fund and build the Recreation Path, and their pride in it is very evident. The path starts behind the Community Church and ends a little ways away behind Topnotch.

It is open 365 days a year and popular activities on the path are biking, inline skating, and walking in the summer, and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.

Famous quotes containing the words recreation, path and/or today:

Playing snooker gives you firm hands and helps to build up character. It is the ideal recreation for dedicated nuns.
    Archbishop Luigi Barito (b. 1922)

The living language is like a cowpath: it is the creation of the cows themselves, who, having created it, follow it or depart from it according to their whims or their needs. From daily use, the path undergoes change. A cow is under no obligation to stay in the narrow path she helped make, following the contour of the land, but she often profits by staying with it and she would be handicapped if she didn’t know where it was or where it led to.
    —E.B. (Elwyn Brooks)

Most personal correspondence of today consists of letters the first half of which are given over to an indexed statement of why the writer hasn’t written before, followed by one paragraph of small talk, with the remainder devoted to reasons why it is imperative that the letter be brought to a close.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
