Stone Sheep

The Stone sheep (or Stone's sheep), Ovis dalli stonei, is a more southern subspecies of Dall sheep, Ovis dalli, a sheep native to northwestern North America, slate brown in color with some white patches on the rump and inside of the hind legs, and having curved yellowish brown horns.

Stone's Sheep are primarily found in Northern British Columbia and can often be seen by travellers licking minerals along the side of the Alaska Highway in areas such as Summit Lake, Stone Mountain Provincial Park and Muncho Lake Provincial Park.

Female Stone's Sheep are called Ewes (Pronounced /Yous/) while the male of the species are called rams.

Famous quotes containing the words stone and/or sheep:

Certainly ordinary language has no claim to be the last word, if there is such a thing. It embodies, indeed, something better than the metaphysics of the Stone Age, namely, as was said, the inherited experience and acumen of many generations of men.
    —J.L. (John Langshaw)

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
    —Bible: New Testament Matthew 10:16.

    Jesus, sending forth the Apostles.
