Stephanie Herseth Sandlin - Post Congressional Career

Post Congressional Career

After her defeat in the 2010 Congressional election, Herseth Sandlin joined the Washington, D.C. firm of Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Matz as a principal attorney focusing on federal laws and regulations. She told Roll Call that she might register to lobby Congress, after the expiration of the mandatory one-year waiting period which bars former Members from that activity. Ultimately, she did not register as a lobbyist after the cooling off period ended. Although Herseth Sandlin did not run in 2012, political commentators have suggested that a 2014 run for Senate if incumbent Senator Tim Johnson retires could be a possibility.

Herseth Sandlin serves as an adjunct assistant professor at South Dakota State University.

Famous quotes containing the words post and/or career:

I had rather be shut up in a very modest cottage, with my books, my family and a few old friends, dining on simple bacon, and letting the world roll on as it liked, than to occupy the most splendid post which any human power can give.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

Whether lawyer, politician or executive, the American who knows what’s good for his career seeks an institutional rather than an individual identity. He becomes the man from NBC or IBM. The institutional imprint furnishes him with pension, meaning, proofs of existence. A man without a company name is a man without a country.
    Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)
