Common
Stelling Minnis Common comprising 124 acres (50 Ha) is privately owned by the Trustees of the estate of the late Lord Tomlin of Ash and is one of the last remaining manorial commons in Kent. The Minnis is managed by volunteers drawn from the local community to act on behalf of the owners. Their work is guided by a management plan produced by Kent Wildlife Trust to enhance the biodiversity of the Minnis and promote the well-being of local residents and the wider community.

Famous quotes containing the word common:
“It is surely a matter of common observation that a man who knows no one thing intimately has no views worth hearing on things in general. The farmer philosophizes in terms of crops, soils, markets, and implements, the mechanic generalizes his experiences of wood and iron, the seaman reaches similar conclusions by his own special road; and if the scholar keeps pace with these it must be by an equally virile productivity.”
—Charles Horton Cooley (18641929)
“Do you think that it is possible to have a mere taste of commonness? Either one hates it or makes common cause with it.”
—Franz Grillparzer (17911872)
“The common consolation which some good christian or other, is hourly administering to himself, that he thanks God his mind does not misgive him; and that, consequently, he has a good conscience, because he has a quiet one,is fallacious.”
—Laurence Sterne (17131768)
