Financial Problems

Since the Central Star Ferry Pier was moved from its old pier next to City Hall to the new location outside International Finance Centre, passager number has fallen drastically to mainly by tourists and a small number of commuters. This has meant the Star Ferry company has lost many millions of dollars since the relocation. Therefore it decided not to re-tender for the loss-making Hung Hom-Central and Hung Hom-Wan Chai routes and will stop operating these routes and the relevant piers at Hung Hom Ferry Pier on 31 March 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words financial and/or problems:

In full view of his television audience, he preached a new religion—or a new form of Christianity—based on faith in financial miracles and in a Heaven here on earth with a water slide and luxury hotels. It was a religion of celebrity and showmanship and fun, which made a mockery of all puritanical standards and all canons of good taste. Its standard was excess, and its doctrines were tolerance and freedom from accountability.
    New Yorker (April 23, 1990)

If we fail to meet our problems here, no one else in the world will do so. If we fail, the heart goes out of progressives throughout the world.
    Eleanor Roosevelt (1884–1962)
