St. John's Northwestern Military Academy

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy (SJNMA) was founded in 1884 as St. John's Military Academy (SJMA) in Delafield, Wisconsin, by Rev. Sidney T. Smythe as a private, all-male college preparatory and leadership development school. In 1995, St. John's Military Academy merged with Northwestern Military and Naval Academy (NMNA) in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, to become St. John's Northwestern Military Academy on the Delafield campus.

SJNMA is principally a boarding school for students in grades 7 to 12, but also has an active day program and a one-year post-high school program that is conducted in partnership with the University of Wisconsin System with tailored instruction delivered at a college level. The Academy also offers several summer programs including four one-week, high-energy adventure camps, a five-week Summer OPS academic program and an English as a Second Language program.

Famous quotes containing the words john, military and/or academy:

Look Johnny, Spig just joined the Navy. I’m married to it. I run the mess hall. I swab the deck. I chip the rust. You’re afraid that they’ll kick Spig out of the Navy. I’m afraid that they won’t.
Frank Fenton, William Wister Haines, co-scenarist, and John Ford. Minne Wead (Maureen O’Hara)

Stately as a galleon, I sail across the floor,
Doing the military two-step, as in the days of yore.
    Joyce Grenfell (1910–1979)

I realized early on that the academy and the literary world alike—and I don’t think there really is a distinction between the two—are always dominated by fools, knaves, charlatans and bureaucrats. And that being the case, any human being, male or female, of whatever status, who has a voice of her or his own, is not going to be liked.
    Harold Bloom (b. 1930)
