St David's Marist Inanda - Sporting Tradition

Sporting Tradition

All students are required to participate in summer and winter sports, and teams go according to age groups (Under 14, 15, 16 and Open) to compete against other schools. The primary sports in the high school are rugby union, cricket, soccer, swimming, waterpolo and hockey. In winter, the school fields about 15 rugby teams and 10 hockey teams every week. The school is also successful in a number of smaller sports like tennis, canoeing and cross country. The school colours are blue and gold, but it is a tradition that first teams wear black and gold.

Famous quotes containing the words sporting and/or tradition:

I once heard of a murderer who propped his two victims up against a chess board in sporting attitudes and was able to get as far as Seattle before his crime was discovered.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

In former years it was said that at three o’clock in the afternoon all sober persons were rounded up and herded off the grounds, as undesirable. The tradition of insobriety is still carefully preserved.
