Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning Muddenahalli
A new campus is being established at Muddenahalli, the birthplace of M. Visvesvaraya, on the outskirts of Chickballapur. The campus will be adjacent to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Muddenahalli and Visvesvaraya Institute of Advanced Technology. This is set to make the region the prime education hub of North Bangalore.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba laid the foundation stone for the new campus at Muddenahalli in February 2009. The university will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes in humanities, management, sciences including medicine, and spiritual studies. The education imparted at the Muddenahalli campus would be infused with spirituality. The graduates will attain scholarship in the scriptures of the Ramayana, the Bhagavatha and the Bhagavad Gita. A hillock at Muddenahalli, said to be the highest spot in the area, will house the administrative office. Once the building is constructed it could be viewed from the Bangalore-Puttaparthi-Hyderabad highway. A large mantapam has been erected atop the hillock, according to the Sathya Sai Seva organisation.
