Spiritual Baptist - Holiday

Holiday

In 1996 the Government of Trinidad and Tobago granted a public holiday to the Spiritual Baptist faith, to be celebrated on March 30, called Spiritual Baptist/Shouter Liberation Day, in memory of the struggle and in recognition of the repeal of the prohibition laws. Trinidad and Tobago is the only country that celebrates a public holiday for the Spiritual Baptist faith.

Famous quotes containing the word holiday:

Come, woo me, woo me; for now I am in a holiday humor, and
    like enough to consent.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

You will think me very pedantic, gentlemen, but holiday though it may be, I have not the smallest interest in any holiday, except as it celebrates real and not pretended joys.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

I can’t stand to sing the same song the same way two nights in succession, let alone two years or ten years. If you can, then it ain’t music, it’s close-order drill or exercise or yodeling or something, not music.
    —Billie Holiday (1915–1959)
