Famous quotes containing the words spiral and/or silence:
“Year after year beheld the silent toil
That spread his lustrous coil;
Still as the spiral grew,
He left the past years dwelling for the new,
Stole with soft step its shining archway through,
Built up its idle door,
Stretched in his last-found home, and knew the old no more.”
—Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (18091894)
“Under all speech that is good for anything there lies a silence that is better. Silence is deep as Eternity; speech is shallow as Time.”
—Thomas Carlyle (17951881)
